Baraka Releases New Album, The Shifting Horizon

Electronic producer and jazz pianist Geoffrey Dean, aka Baraka, released a new album, The Shifting Horizon, this week. It’s is an ambient electronic project composed of 13 tracks that make for a chill, downtempo listen. Soft piano shines against a glittering tonal soundscape.

One track, “I Don’t Need to Tell You That It’s Over,” has a distinctly melancholy sound. Songs “I Need Your Love,” “One Summer’s Day,” and “New Dawn” (which features the inimitable Persona La Ave) were released as singles earlier this year, before the album dropped. “Show Me You Love’ closes out the project with deep electronic touches and background vocal flourishes that form a scintillating echo.

The groovy, textural tracks meld to create an album that, as a whole, serves as a refreshing comedown from a hectic year. Stream The Shifting Horizon by Baraka below.
