Band of Horses released a new single, “In Need of Repair,” on November 30. It’s group’s second single of the year — the first, “Crutch,” was released back in October.
While “In Need of Repair” features the bright, guitar-focused sound we know and love from Band of Horses, the lyrics explore heavy sentiments of domestic discontent. Sarcastic lines like “staying friends, it’s really fantastic” convey a sense of dismay, and the chorus repeats “it’s not enough, it’s not enough” and “you only hurt the ones you love.” Lead singer Ben Bridwell’s voice shines, its characteristic dynamism underscoring the vulnerability of each word.
“In Need of Repair” was co-produced Ben Bridwell along with Charleston’s Wolfgang Zimmerman (of Brave Baby). The track is part of Band of Horses’ upcoming album Things Are Great, which is due to drop on January 21.
Don’t miss the chance to hear the new Band of Horses tunes live at the Royal American on December 28 — Bridwell and some special guests will be playing for the venue’s 10th anniversary celebration. In the meantime, you can stream “In Need of Repair” below.
