    B.A.S.I.C. – “Suicide Prevention”
    Published: August 22, 2021

Hip-hop artist Jeremiah Boone, aka B.A.S.I.C., dropped a new single, “Suicide Prevention,” this week. The Summerville-based rapper takes a somber approach lyrically, with this track – themes depression and self-harm can be heard throughout. “I hope you answer my call,” Boone pleads throughout the song.

Amidst this serious subject matter, the beat still manages to be addictive. There’s an echo-y, atmospheric backdrop paired with Boone’s earnest and soulful vocals. It’s a sound reminiscent of the hip-hop songs that we loved in the 2000s and early 2010s.

B.A.S.I.C., whose moniker is an acronym for “Beware Society is Corrupt,” has been releasing music on Soundcloud since 2018, and 2020 brought him to all streaming platforms. In the past he often collabed with fellow Summerville rapper Ivory Keys, including releasing a tape together in early 2018 called The Keys to Boone Hall.

Keep your eyes peeled for B.A.S.I.C. performing live shows in the Charleston area and stream “Suicide Prevention” below.
