Good day to you Community. We have a new single out this week. It’s called Irrational Confidence. It’s about being really good a parallel parking and other various humble brags of import. It also has some pretty rad keyboard tones from a thrift store synth we picked up years ago. Hope you dig it!
I should note that we have a bunch of shows we’ll be announcing soon. So there’s that.

Big thanks to Coast Records for the (as always) marvelous mixing!
Also, huge shout out to Holy City Booking and Frequency Fest*. As the excellent EC article covered, this whole endeavor is incredibly cool and a marvelous addition to our fair city. We implore anyone reading this to go check it out. Hear some scuzzy power chords, drink a shitty beer and yell with a stranger. It’s what what makes life worth living.
*Unfortunately, due to some unavoidable scheduling conflicts, CARLS had to drop from our spot on Saturday at the Garden. But a few of us will still be there to partake (and potentially repeatedly request that someone play some Creedence).
Also, also, a big fuck yeah to Chris Garner and Grilled Cheese for the weekly videos they’re doing. Tremendous. Just Tremendous.
Okay, that’s it.
Be excellent to each other.
in reply to: Soul Music Rabbit Hole Project With Chris GardnerLove this thread idea!
I listen to a lot of music but 60’s / 70’s is soul is always the biggest slice of the pie. It’s perfect music.
Let’s do this.
Dyke and the Blazers – You Are My Sunshine
King Floyd – I Feel Like Dynamite
Pastor T.L. Barrett and the Youth for Christ Choir – Like a Ship
Ann Peebles – Slipped, Tripped and Fell in Love
Lee Dorsey – What You Want (Is What You Get)
Don Gardner – My Baby Likes to Boogaloo
Jackie Wilson & LaVern Baker – Think Twice (Version X)
King Curtis – Memphis Soul Stew
Lou Rawls – Bring It On Home (no disrespect to the great Sam Cooke but the Lou Rawls version is untouchable)
Sly Johnson – Let Yourself Go
Darondo – True
Little Richard – Freedom Blues
in reply to: New Music 2024Greetings EC Community,
New whathaveyou from CARLS is available now – Hot Night on Bergen Street. It’s an homage to a couple of weirdo frolickers having a good time in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn (my old stomping grounds). Musically it’s kind of an amped up T.Rex vibe.
We’ll be playing that and a bunch of other radness this Saturday, 10/19 at LoFi at 9PM.
Also, there’s going to be a climactic balloon drop. Who doesn’t love a climactic balloon drop?
Come out and get whimsical with us!
Cheers,
CARL!

in reply to: CARLS – Charleston, SC (Rock)New CARLS out today.
Big ass groove and a bigger chorus. Lyrically, its about all the silly shit you can do if you have money.
More singles coming and shows and parties coming up summer and fall. Stay tuned!
What silliness would you get into if you had a lot of cash?

in reply to: CARLS – Charleston, SC (Rock)Thanks! Basic tracking was done at Coast Records with the always excellent Matt Zutell engineering. Overdubbing and extra production was done at home (modern recording technology is the best). Then everything was sent back to Matt for mixing. Matthew Garber at For the Record Mastering handled mastering. Big shout to both of those guys! They do really great work. Highly recommend!
