Tanager – Ypsilanti, MI (Indie Rock)

Hello, all! I just discovered this community and I think it’s awesome. I’m always looking for my new favorite song, and I’m finding a ton of great stuff here.

I’m the singer/songwriter for Tanager, an indie rock group based in Michigan. We’re currently working on a new album exploring themes of exhaustion, escapism, aching for connection and understanding—and the resilient spirit that can emerge from these experiences. It’s all about big, raw emotions.

Our lead single, “Haunted,” was released on Spotify earlier this year, and offers a glimpse into our updated indie rock sound. While we’ve previously been labeled as a shoegaze act, that’s never felt quite right (but you can explore some of our back catalog for yourself, if you’re into that style), and we’re exploring a variety of sounds on this new record.
