Rest in Peace to Phil Lesh, bassist and founding member of the Grateful Dead.

    3/15/40 to 10/25/24

Phil was the man and loved by many.

The jam band world honored him greatly, playing his songs, and celebrating his life in the days following his passing. Many performed his song, “Box of Rain” in his honor.

This is a place to collect Phil Lesh tributes, moments, and memories.

    I’ll start with some tributes.

Phish – “Box of Rain” (Albany, NY 10/25/24)

It is a rarity for Phish to play a Grateful Dead song. Phil was a good friend of Trey Anastasio’s.

The Bobby Weir Incident – “Box of Rain” (Hulaween, 10/27/24)

String Cheese Incident performed with Bob Weir, another founding member of the Grateful Dead, on Sunday evening at Hulaween.

Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country – “Box of Rain” (Brooklyn, NY 10/25/24)

Daniel played with Phil Lesh & Friends a lot during his final years.

Greensky Bluegrass – “Broken Arrow” (Charleston, SC 10/31/24)

A cover of the Robbie Robertson song “Broken Arrow”, which Phil Lesh sang lead on with the Dead in 1993. This was in the encore.

Goose – “Brokedown Palace” (Winston Salem, NC 10/25/24)

Goose also performed Dead favorites “Cold Rain and Snow” and “Turn On Your Lovelight” that night in honor of Phil.
