Well, the rain just started coming down in Charleston and it won’t be stopping for at least 3 days. The city is going to flood a lot. Probably more than it has flooded since Joaquin in 2015, which they called the “1000 Year Flood”. In all my years that is currently the worst I’ve ever seen the flooding downtown.
Aside from that, we’re all about to be holed up indoors for the next few days. So, I figured we might as well throw our own hurricane party in the Extra Chill Community!
I always dive into creative projects during a hurricane, and listen to a lot of music. The weather makes me very reflective. What about you? How do you spend your time during storms?
Take it easy, everyone. Be safe, don’t do anything stupid — but if you do, make sure you film it!
Here’s a photo of me and my friends after our hurricane party on Blake Street in 2015. We were on our way to ACs, the only bar that was open, after drinking all day on the second floor of my house. We waded through waist-deep flood water to get there. A bunch of 21-22 year old hooligans.
Here are some videos of people wakeboarding in the streets of Charleston. Some of these people I knew in college, including my friend Wes Huber.

@qrisg our next tribute show at the Music Farm is “Tropical Storm Chris: A Tribute to Hurricane Chris”

Debby has brought a lot of rain so far, but nothing too crazy it seems. They say it’s going out in the ocean where it will pick up more water to dump on us. Doesn’t look like it will be leaving the area anytime soon.
I’m stocked up with snacks and marijuana. Spinning Steely Dan on vinyl in my living room. Life ain’t bad.
