in reply to: Not Really Local – but this Dogs in a pile …
@partyboygeezy We’ll see if I can make it happen. I’m just gonna keep on building this place up as much as I can.
Did you make it to Syracuse for this?
in reply to: Extrachill.Link Early User FeedbackIt might take me til tomorrow to fix the fonts thing but it will be fixed asap
in reply to: Extrachill.Link Early User Feedbackglad to hear it!!
@jollymonster it’s probably the same issue the colors had.. i’m on it and thanks so much for testing the system and letting me know about broken stuffin reply to: Welcome@headliner yeah I’m loving it out here! I moved in November after 13 years in Charleston
i’m still working tours haha, now on kayaks instead of sailboats
in reply to: Extrachill.Link Early User FeedbackHey @jollymonster thanks for the heads up. The YouTube stuff was working on my test site but not on the live version and I didn’t notice.
That should be fixed now. When you click a YouTube link, it SHOULD open and play the video directly in the page.
On the advanced tab, the toggle switch is meant to turn that feature OFF. So if you use the “disable” option, it will take you to youtube.com instead.
So, to recap, fixed now:
1. YouTube links
2. Color picker not remembering your selections between page loads
3. Saving “Location” field in the user profileAdded thumbnails to my list. I can make that happen the same way LinkTree does.
in reply to: Not Really Local – but this Dogs in a pile …Which then begs the question – why is it so hard to operate a festival camp grounds? One would think that portos and water and a field with electrical should not be that hard – like just make nice with the local fire dept and police. Give a nice donation. I’ll tell you what though – insurance companies probably don’t want to touch a festie ground with a (insert phallus metaphor here).
This Wonderland Forest stuff is juicy, thanks for sharing. I hadn’t heard about the place but it sucks to have to pull the plug on all these shows, especially the Dogs fest. They are sick, I saw them at Peach a couple summers ago, pretty sure you were standing next to me.
The same thing happened with this place called the Woodlands in Charleston, and it was a permitting issue with the city. Too many people nearby were complaining about the traffic on the road leading there when they had big events. I think the noise was also a factor.
Unrelated, but i have this dream to one day own a festival ground in the middle of nowhere and host my own camping fest.
in reply to: WelcomeWhat’s up Headliner! Thanks for joining.
I’m in Austin, TX now!
in reply to: New music out today ~ the song is “Climb”I will send you an email soon
in reply to: New music out today ~ the song is “Climb”@saraichinwag what do you think?
thanks again for testing it lol, the new platform is still under construction. for some reason it flagged your post for review and caused the bot to not respond, which i am looking into
in reply to: Festival Wire – Real-Time Music Festival News Feed@saraichinwag i guess i could do something like a customizable, automated newsletter where users can select which festivals or locations they want to receive updates from and then they will get a roundup every week of posts about that festival, or something similar.
the thing is, it would take me a solid amount of time to develop this, and right now i’m just working on getting the word out to the initial users looking for music festival news
do you think Festival Wire is the best source for music festival news on the web? can you think of any other sources that might top it? we are basically competing directly with Festive Owl, who is much more established but only uses social media
here at Extra Chill, we have a whole universe for music festival fans. we are just still relatively underground and not widely known. we have a strong niche following that has grown significantly over the years, and we keep expanding the platform to appeal to more and more people
in reply to: Festival Wire – Real-Time Music Festival News Feedyeah, @saraichinwag i guess you’re right. a lot of people are looking for something like a festival newspaper or wondering where can i get a news feed for music festivals. we are definitely solving that specific problem with the Festival Wire!
it’s a great place to get the latest music festival news, and the volume is not something that a human editorial team can keep up with
i talk about api costs, but in reality it costs me about $2 per day to run right now. that isn’t so bad, especially if we are able to spread the word to fans of music festivals who are looking for news
it’s the perfect solution for them!
in reply to: Bonnaroo 2025I will be headed back to Bonnaroo this year!
Getting a media pass to Bonnaroo has been one of my long-term goals with Extra Chill for years. I have now achieved that goal.
Bonnaroo has shaped my view of the world in a lot of different ways. I’m excited to write about it and share with y’all.
The first time I went to this festival I was just a kid, 2017, not long after college. I had the time of my life with three of my best friends. We went three years in a row, and then the pandemic fast-forwarded time, and life changed.
6 years have passed since I’ve been back, and now I’m at a point where I’ve interviewed several bands on the lineup, and it’s cool to see Extra Chill’s growth.
I could write a whole lot more about it but just know that I’ll be using this space to share my experience before writing the official Extra Chill review.
Chime in if you’re going to Bonnaroo too! Or if you just love the festival like I do. Cheers!
