On Sunday, June 11th, 90s rock legends Toad the Wet Sprocket and Marcy Playground stopped through Charleston as part of the All You Want tour. The band performed their classic hits, deep cut favorites from throughout their catalogue, and more recent material from their latest album Starting Now.
As a bonus, Toad the Wet Sprocket also brought out none other than Charleston local Darius Rucker (Hootie & the Blowfish) for a surprise sit-in on the 1994 fan-favorite “Crowing”. They introduced him as if he were just a no-name local — much to the excitement of the audience who saw the familiar face walk out on stage.
Marcy Playground kicked things off with a rocker of a set that showed the Charleston crowd they’ve still got it. Their set, like Toad the Wet Sprocket’s, consisted of material from throughout their career, including of course their 1997 hit, “Sex and Candy”.
The bonus with Marcy Playground is that the photographers were allowed by the band management to shoot the entire set. Steve Aycock was in the pit capturing the magic with his newly-upgraded rig. See a full photo gallery from the night below.
