The Apartment Club Releases ‘Doubt Vol. 1’ EP

Spartanburg-based alternative rock band The Apartment Club just released a new two-track EP called Doubt Vol. 1, which contains the songs “Bad/New” and “Doubt”. The new EP follows the band’s self-titled debut EP, which was released back in January. These tracks show The Apartment Club making a sonic shift toward a heavier, more raw sound.

According to The Apartment Club frontman Acen Herron, the sonic departure from the band’s earlier release is due to their progression toward writing as a collective unit, with each member contributing their own musical assets to the process. Acen says that this time around, he’s allowed himself to write lyrics that reflect honestly what he’s struggling with on a day-to-day basis. This openness to sharing emotion has shown itself on Doubt Vol. 1, and will hopefully continue to shine through in the future.

Doubt Vol. 1 was tracked with Brian Jarvis here in Charleston at Anchor & Pine Studio. Jarvis also produced the EP along with Graham Peeples of Greenville indie rock band Estuarie. Watch out for Doubt Vol. 2 coming in February, and a special Spring tour announcement coming soon.

The Apartment Club will also play in Greenville on December 15th as part of The Hoodoo Music Festival. The festival was organized by some bands who have been featured on the growing Hoodoo Music Podcast in appreciation of the podcast’s founder, Mark Jones. Mark interviews bands and other prominent members of the Upstate SC music scene, and even records some live sessions. The festival will take place at Greenville house venue Turkey Point South.
