    Stop Light Observations – “downBAD”
    Published: April 18, 2022

Stop Light Observations dropped a new track, “downBAD,” on Friday. It’s the band’s second single release of the year, following “57Chevy” in January.

“downBAD” begins with a jazzy piano lick and a couple of background “yeahs,” setting the stage for a song that feels like a party. Blackburn’s voice displays its signature soulfulness but remains upbeat. “Baby, I’m down bad,” he repeats throughout the song, weaving a narrative that spirals in and out and seems to, at least at one point, take place on a yacht. The piano and percussion keep a funky pace, and the song is satisfying, capturing the anticipatory, electric energy of the start of summer.

Stream “downBAD” below and don’t forget to snag a ticket to one (or both) Stop Light Observations’s shows at the newly-reopened Music Farm on May 6 and 7.
