Single Sparrow, the artist name of Charleston musician and recording artist Patrick Leitner, released a new song, “Happy Accidents,” on Friday. The single is one of 12 tunes featured on his upcoming album, Automata, which is set to be released October 1st.
“Happy Accidents” is an alt-rock song with an easy melody but somewhat darker lyrics. Sonically, it calls to mind the 90s and early 2000s, feeling a bit like The Lemonheads meets Death Cab For Cutie. It’s full of start-and-stop guitar riffs and grounded by a steady bass line, snappy drums, and expressive vocals.
The inspiration for “Happy Accidents” came after Leitner watched “Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal, and Greed.” He took the chorus line “I’m waiting on the good times to come” from the documentary.
Leitner wrote, recorded, mixed, and mastered each of the tracks on Automata himself, as well as played all of the instruments. Listen to “Happy Accidents” by Single Sparrow below and stay tuned for the full album to drop next Saturday.
