    Sandcastle – “Spiraling”
    Published: September 5, 2023

Charleston-based indie band Sandcastle released a new single last month, and it’s sure to satisfy all of your end-of-summer nostalgia. “Spiraling” carries the preeminently grungy post-punk-driven group into a modern era with a relatable psych-pop-ish surf rock melody.

The band recorded the single at Truphonic Recording Studios with local engineer Elliot Elsey, and you’re guaranteed to hear the collaboration of storytelling from each instrument to create this angsty love letter-like tune.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Remy Clark possesses the poetic ability to deliver straightforward, heartbreaking, yet lighthearted lyricism to the listener. You can feel the shift of the song’s positivity from the bluesy keys to the later guitar solo that transcends you to a clip from a movie where the main character is standing in the rain with the camera paneling around, in a moment of pure devastation and hopefulness.

Alongside Sandcastle’s three EPs, the group recently formed what they like to call their “bastard child” project, The Inhibitors. People want punk. And these guys are here to give it to us.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Sandcastle and catch their next live show at The Purple Buffalo on October 28th.
