Brave Baby’s latest single “Little Buzz On” has the makings of an instant fan favorite. The country-touched track is the fourth single from the group’s long awaited third album, 3x blood, which will finally see release on September 20th. In a catalogue that has historically been drenched in synths, the slide guitar on “Little Buzz On” is a welcome change, alongside familiar lyrics that tell a story of a night where you stayed out a little too late with your friends.

Today we’re happy to premiere the music video for “Little Buzz On,” created by Persona La Ave and filmed at LO-Fi Brewing in Charleston, SC (site of the album release party on 9/21). The fourth single, and the fourth video from that day at LO-Fi.

Enjoy the music video below, and keep reading for quotes from frontman Keon Masters about Brave Baby, 3x blood, and the “Little Buzz On” video.

Interview with Keon Masters of Brave Baby: 3x blood

As a Charleston band, in a town that is known for the party, a song like “Little Buzz On” couldn’t be more appropriate. Brave Baby goes country, and sings about alcohol and friendship. There was a time when we thought they would never return, but here they are with 3x blood, their first album since 2015’s Electric Friends. There’s a lot to talk about, and I linked up with Keon for some of it.

    Writing “Little Buzz On”

“I remember spending four or five hours in my studio trying to land a plane on this other track,” Keon says. “I opened up this other instrumental that Christian sent me and it was what ended up being Little Buzz On. I immediately started saying, I don’t know what I was thinking, calling you when I was drinking. I wrote those lyrics in like ten minutes.”

After sending the demo to the band, everybody agreed that it was better than the other song that Keon spent all day working on, which will never see the light of day.

“It’s about being king in your hometown, your hometown bar, and you try to go home,” Keon says. “It’s probably time to go home and you’re thinking, I could have one more. Insert booths at Royal American. It’s the closest thing I have to a glory day song, probably.”

3x blood, Brave Baby, Lifelong Friendship

Nine years between album releases is a long gap for any band. For Brave Baby, this means being more intentional with their studio time, and putting their best foot forward with each release. They’ve got responsibilities now, like wives and families.

“I’m really proud of this body of work. I don’t know when the next Brave Baby record is going to come out, but I hope it’s much sooner than the last one. I’m hoping we stay steadfast. I think we’re all in it in a different way, and a different mentality of whatever happens, as long as we’re releasing music with intention, we can’t really lose.”

Keon has been pleased with the positive response, and is glad to be playing music with his friends again. During Brave Baby’s hiatus he performed as a solo artist, but he says that he would choose Brave Baby over that anytime.

“Once you find your dudes, like your band of brothers, in it to win it, understand you to the bone and never gonna, — obviously they probably judge you more than anybody, but they’re all certain. The grace we have for each other now is beyond. We’re all just very… it’s familial. You get to this moment where you can just write together, right? Understand how it works and you create a sound. I missed our sound when I was doing solo stuff.”

There are many fans who would agree that the Brave Baby sound has been missed. Enjoy the other three music videos from 3x blood released thus far: “Half Awake,” “2 Things At Once,” and “Talking to Myself,” below.
