On Wednesday, October 9th, Post Malone brought his F-1 Trillion Tour to Charleston’s Credit One Stadium for a weeknight party for a packed house of enthusiastic fans. The internationally-renowned artist wore his finest cutoff jean shorts and black George Strait t-shirt, armed with a fresh pack of cigarettes and a seemingly endless supply of Bud Lights. He performed the hits from his recent country album F-1 Trillion, plus fan-favorites from his entire discography.

“We’re here to play y’all some shitty songs and party while we do it,” Post Malone said after the second song, “Finer Things”, before diving into one of his most popular tracks, “Circles”.

The stage was rigged with pyrotechnics at every corner, which blew off at several points throughout the set. Bands usually save this stuff for the encore, but Posty had the fireworks going off for the whole show. His backing band was a top-notch country band including fiddle (Lily May), pedal steel (Chandler Walters) and more, bringing a special twang to even the songs from before Post Malone went country.

    Brought Out Darius Rucker

The new album is packed with guests who Post Malone shouted out throughout the show. While none of the album guests appeared at this show, there was a special guest in Charleston. Midway through the set he brought out Darius Rucker of Hootie & The Blowfish fame to perform two tracks, including Darius’ track “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It”, which the crowd didn’t really know, and “Wagon Wheel”, which the crowd went absolutely nuts over.

Post Malone’s 2016 hit “White Iverson” was a highlight performance from the night, as it always is. “Rockstar” was stopped halfway through due to audience members fighting in the crowd. Security broke up the fight and Post shouted out a good Samaritan who helped to break up the fight. The night closed with “Congratulations” and an encore of “Sunflower”.

This was my second Post Malone concert experience, the first being his headline set at Bonnaroo 2019, which was really awesome. My opinion is that his performance has gotten even better, although the Bonnaroo crowd is a whole different beast than a weeknight crowd in Charleston.
