Wednesday, August 28th brought the multi-talented Matisyahu to Charleston to perform on the Windjammer’s Nütrl Beach stage near the end of his summer tour, with support from Distant Cousins. The reggae-fusion artist recently released a new EP, Hold The Fire (Acoustic), which features alternate, stripped-back recordings of his 2024 Hold The Fire EP.
Matisyahu is one of the most prominent Jewish-American artists out there, and he has been spreading love and unity with his music for over two decades now. The political tension surrounding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas presented challenges earlier this year with canceled shows in Chicago, Tuscon, and Santa Fe over fears of protests due to the artist’s perceived support of Israel.
Thankfully for the fans, he was able to get back on the road, and Charleston gave him a warm welcome. It’s hard to picture a better environment for Matisyahu’s music than a late-summer beachfront concert. His son, Duvbear, also made an appearance.
Matisyahu will hit the road again in November for acoustic performances in support of Hold The Fire (Acoustic). He will be joined by Adam Weinberg, who is featured on the EP.
