Lil Mexico is yet another badass South Carolina rapper that has flown under the radar at Extra Chill, as I just found out he existed this afternoon. His newest single “Poetic Justice” dropped last week along with a low-key music video. Lil Mexico hails from Gray Court, South Carolina, a small town in the upstate with a population of a little more than 1000. The story goes that Lil Mexico started rapping when he was just 11 years old, and cites Lil Wayne as one of his earliest influences. Lil Mexico gained some traction in the underground hip-hop scene with his Trench Babymixtapes, and now he’s starting to blow up on a national scale.
“Poetic Justice” goes pretty hard, and something tells me that much like fellow young South Carolina rapper 18veno, what we’re hearing now is just the beginning for Lil Mexico.
